Vaughan Williams/Grieg: Violin Sonatas

Charlie Siem and Itamar Golan team up to bring us a modern take on Vaughan Williams and Grieg's Violin Sonatas, and let me tell you, it's an absolute banger of an album. Siem's violin playing is as smooth as a freshly buttered crumpet, gliding effortlessly through each sonata with finesse and flair. From the opening notes of Vaughan Williams' Sonata in A minor, Siem's talent shines through like a beacon in the foggy British countryside. His phrasing is impeccable, his tone exquisite, and his overall musicality is just bloody brilliant. Golan's piano accompaniment is equally top-notch, providing the perfect backdrop for Siem's virtuosic playing. But let's not forget about Grieg's Sonata No. 3 in C minor, a piece that is as whimsical and enchanting as a unicorn prancing through a meadow. Siem and Golan tackle this work with gusto, breathing new life into each movement and captivating the listener from start to finish. Overall, this album is a must-listen for any classical music aficionado. Siem and Golan's chemistry is undeniable, their technical prowess is unmatched, and their passion for the music shines through in every note. Put on your fanciest monocle, pour yourself a cuppa, and prepare to be blown away by this stellar collaboration. Cheers, mates!
